The scales of Raga Sri (also spelt as Shree, Shri) are as follows :

Aarohanam : S R2 M1 P N2 S’
Avarohanam : S’ N2 P D2 N2 P M1 R2 G2 R2 S

Sri is a janya raga, derived from Kharaharapriya (below) which is 22nd on the Melakarta scale.

22 Kharaharapriya

This ancient raga is considered very auspicious. It is one of the five Ghana ragas. It is not related to the raga of the same name in the Hindustani system. Sri raga has similarities with Madhyamavati; to read a comparative note, click here. Tyagaraja’s Endaro Mahanubhavulu is a magnificent composition in this raga, the first to come to mind for this raga. Other kritis of note are Karuna Judu by Shyama Shastri, the varnam Sami Ninnu Kori by Garbhapurivasa, Sri Kamalambike and Sri Varalakshmi by Muthuswami Dikshithar.

Note : The 12 notes in the octave are named as below. Please note that C is used as Sa for the sake of simplicity as the scale is relative in Carnatic Music. Also note that the scales paint only a superficial picture of the raga as the gamakas(ornamentations) are a very important part of a raga.
